Wonderful Mother's Day!

Monday, May 13, 2013

My son always pampers me on Mother's Day. Yes, to a degree it's with spending money eating out or taking me a movie (this year The Great Gatsby). But more than that, he agrees to accompany me to a destination where I usually wouldn't ask him to go.

This year, I wanted to visit The Plaza Hotel b/c online it said that it had several exhibits reflecting The Great Gatsby. As you may know, the book and the actual people (F. Scott & Zelda Fitzherald) spent a lot of time at this time-honored place. He did go with me. He also took some great pix, some of which I will show you here.

He has a great eye for taking pictures, so I asked him to do the honors.

Here are some of them:

Picture #1 is, obviously, a display of the cards that Gatsby might have distributed.

Picture #2 are Daisy & Gatsby's outfits from the scene @ The Plaza.

Picture #3 are the outfits that Nick, Tom and Jordan are wearing in the same scene. It's kind of exciting (for me, anyway) to follow the film into actual places that exist (i.e., Tiffany's and The Plaza). There are times that it is very exciting to live in NYC!

Sounds like fun!! I never saw the movie. And for the movies filmed in Kansas or Wichita, i think only one I've see was the older Superman movie with Christopher Reeves, out in a wheat field! Oh and Kirstie Alley came in to eat lunch downtown with her family (for awhile I was taking Pilates with her cousin... Fun!

Take care and Happy Trails!
