I'm Not Giving Up!!

Monday, May 13, 2013

I've been struggling with the last 15-20 pounds I need to lose for quite awhile. I realize the last pounds are the hardest to go. Being hypothyroid and going through menopause make it even harder. Those are both things that are out of my control.

On a positive note, I've conquered many healthy habits and changed my life in many ways. This is all good. But frankly, I'm tired of malingering around those last 15-20 pounds.

I love SparkPeople and everything they stand for. I have a wonderful community of friends on SparkPeople and my life would simply not be the same without my gratitude practice. So I saw purchasing "The Spark Solution" as a win-win. Buying the latest book supports SparkPeople, which I'm happy to do. More importantly, it's a 2-week program to help jumpstart your weight loss. I read that it can be a good thing for people who have those last few nagging pounds that are still hanging around.

So ... I'm in. I started the 2-week program TODAY. I'm taking advantage of having the extra group support as the Spark Solution team leaders take you through the program, day by day. THIS IS AN "OPPORTUNITY" FOR ME ... and one I plan to take full advantage of.

I've done a pretty decent job over the past few years of dumping the "all or nothing" attitude, but found myself slipping back into it over the last few months. Gone, gone, gone. It is - as of today - GONE!! I'm going back to the minimum of 10 minutes per day (and I rarely, if ever, stop at 10 minutes). But that knowledge, that I can stop after 10 minutes if I need or want to, gets me started. The endorphins do their job after that.

So we'll see what happens in the next four weeks. I've been struggling with getting out of the 180s and back into the 170s. I've been hovering in the low- to mid-180s for a few years now (I'm very fortunate that I'm taller and big-boned because most people are very surprised when I say I weigh 184). For some reason, that 170 marker has had me stuck. I plan to unstick it!!! That's my goal for the next 30 days (the book also provides a two-week program for how to move forward after the two-week jumpstart).

So here's to SparkPeople, The Spark Solution and me!!!

Hey Stephanie, I am working on the Spark Solution for the same reason...those last few pounds remind me of a Steven Covey saying that goes something like "the enemy of the great is the good". Loosing some weight made me feel good, and I've settled in...now I want GREAT and I want it for you too!

    This is really exciting, Stephanie!
I love the energy in your blog and I can tell that you are ready to take that next step. It's interesting to look at why we get "stuck" in a place for a while. With weight-loss, there are lots of reasons we plateau, but I think they all come back to the same solution: change. And you are making an exciting change. I can't wait to hear about The Spark Solution and cheer you on!

I hear ya 100%!! Great attitude - you go girl! I am with you all the way on being sick of dealing with that last same recurring never ending 15-20 pounds. I am not tall, and really need to get out of the 170-179 fluctuating zone and finally get to 150-155ish. I too fall prey to all or nothing (in all areas of life!) and am working on a reality check & consistency and moderation in both nutrition and fitness.

Here's to YOU, to Spark, and to un-sticking!! emoticon
