2013 Dunedin Hog Hustle Race Report

Monday, May 13, 2013

The annual run put on by Dunedin's Parks & Rec is a no brainer. We support Dunedin (FLORIDA)...and I'm a race-aholic! (D runs & watches that I don't hurt myself!)

Home of the Hog Hustle race site!

I love that we don't have to get up so early and can make it to the race area in 10 minutes! Pickup was an hour before the race and that was convenient this year.

On-site registration was available to last minute responders!

Race "Hog chippies" station!

The Olympics have their stand. The Hog Hustle has theirs!

From start to finish, Dunedin's own, DJ Jon Ditty (and a good friend!) provided info and great tunes!

I love getting to a race site so I can chill, take photos, & embrace the scene! I believe it helps me run better! And speaking of the race, it was time to head to the starting line!

I went to the rear of the pack so it would help keep my pace down. I usually start too fast!

I just noticed that the guy in the American Flag "doo rag" became my pacer early in the race!

After the National Anthem, the air horn sounded and we finally got on with it! We did a one mile loop then headed to the beach! That's when I had to shoot the awful views we have to deal with in our town!

We got to the end of that street and went north, dealing with this view!

Soon after, I caught up to the "doo-rag" runner. We shared pleasantries, I checked his pace, and hung with him for the rest of the race. It really relaxed and helped me immensely! Since I was running another 5K the next day, I was quite satisfied with my time and the ease of effort.

I didn't take my traditional shot of the finish line as it wasn't set up until we had started the race. After I finished, I cooled down, hydrated, hung out, and finally took the shot while I waited for D !

I truly enjoy shooting D on the finish line!

Off to the post-race pancake breakfast held at the Stadium's Beer Tent!

Happy D ready to have breakfast!

Two of the most important post-race people!

They served me up good!

I have to give props to Park & Rec for putting on a fun race! The volunteers were most appreciated especially Dunedin Kiwanis International members! These people drive the great vibe to make the event enjoyable!

I had to close this report out with the tee artwork always done every year by a local artist! Cool runnings, Y'all!
