My planned reward for reaching my goal has always been an adult trike. I know that might sound silly, but I had one when I was 12 years old. I used it to haul recycling into town. That's how I got some pocket money. It was extremely useful...and would be today. I could use it to go to my local grocery store and farmers' market. I could go fetch my morning latte by peddling my way to Starbucks, instead of hopping in the car, wasting gas, and missing a calorie-burning opportunity.

But I haven't reached my goal yet...and I don't work during the Summer. Money is alway tight during the Summer months. Spending $500 on a bike would be difficult to justify. I was really counting on reaching my goal before my Summer break.

Not reaching my goal yet...along with stress caused by my work and family have really messed up Sparking this week. I need to knuckle down, but my planned reward seems increasingly remote.

Maybe put a wanted ad on Craigslist and put that you don't have a lot of money to buy one. Sometimes people just want to find a person who will give their space-taker item a good home and aren't so concerned with getting all their money back.

Summer's are always tricky budget-wise in my household. I was hoping that I would hit my goal before my last paycheck of the year. After that, spending a chunk of cash on anything until August is a tough sell.

The trike would be MOST useful during the Summer months, when I'm not working, and I tend to only make short trips around town. It would save us gas (since only one car would be used for three months)...but I can't see that being enough to justify dipping into our Summer reserves.

Is it possible to save some money to get one when you reach your goal? Otherwise, you might look at finding another reward to use when you do meet your goal and get this as soon as you're able to.

Great bike! I got one several years ago for my son who is handicapped and he loves it.

I have my eye on Craigslist in the hope that I can find a good deal. So far, the trikes I've seen have been in pretty bad shape or are priced right around what they originally cost. You would think there'd be more of them out there that were just taking up space in garages...and that people are eager to get rid of.

Perhaps someone will have one to sell in the late fall/early winter when you will have more money.
