Excited to write another upbeat blog

Monday, May 13, 2013

Yep, had a good day yesterday. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it feels to have an appetite and really enjoy the meals now that Carmen made for me. I am so impressed that she made such tasty good meals with so few ingredients. She is making sauces and such from almond milk and things. Her things are very tasty with so many fresh herbs. I will be using her again to make another 2 weeks of meals for me.
So yesterday my doctor called around 6pm. She wanted to bring an orthopedic surgeon to see me who had seen my x-rays of hands and feet. Yep, can you believe that! Two doctors making a house call on a Sunday! but they had just been with another patient right down the hill from me. Anyway this doctor said he believes for sure that I have RA and that could be causing all of my problems with digestion and all. He was very nice and reviewed with me all of my options going forward and all of the new technology to replace the joints in my hands and such. He showed me photos and everything. I know someday I will have to have surgery on my feet as they are getting pretty crippled. I bet you wouldn't have two doctors come to your home on a Sunday in the states.

So I guess the heavy meds are working on whatever autoimmune thing I have as I am feeling so much better. Will get the doggies out for a walk and do a few errands today.
Thank you again dear sparks friends for all your on going support. You mean the world to me!
Have a terrific day!
Sallie

I am so glad you are getting such awesome care and that they are really working hard to get to the bottom of everything that has been ailing you. I am so very sorry to hear you have RA as that is a very difficult road to be traveling on.
I am quite surprised it hasn't been diagnosed before, because a simple X Ray of the hands will reveal early changes before the patient even begins to feel it. Its one of the simplest diagnostic tools. I hope this medication kicks in and prevents the disease from worsening in your joints. The new biologics work great for this. The one thing I have never heard of is it affecting your GI tract, that must be pretty rare, although the disease can affect anything, including your eyes and heart -I have to get regular checkups for this. Do you get your eyes examined regularly by a specialist?
I loved reading your upbeat blogs for Mother's Day and getting your appetite back and enjoying the meals even though they are simple.
Feel better soon!

So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Your medical service must be wonderful in your area. Here they put everything off until you hit the right spot for the insurance to pay. So much for a country that is suppose to have to have the best for its people. And this situation is only getting worse. This new system seems to be completely under the control of the insurance companies and the pharmicutial companies. Oh well off that subject. Just so happy to hear that you are making progress and theya re getting to the root of your problems.

Have a great day and enjoy yourself

Autoimmune tends to 'collect' others. That's why I have a few and work so hard to avoid triggers not just to avoid flares but to avoid 'collecting' others!

I am happy that they are finding out what is wrong. NOPE!!! Docs wouldn`t come on a Sunday yet alone, Mother`s Day. I wish there were those who still made house calls. You are one lucky woman for that to happen. Your up-beat attitude is contagious...Thank you!

emoticon Sallie, I was so busy up the proverbial "wazoo" yesterday that I never had an opportunity to read that blog until just now. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling so much better...and what a gorgeous bouquet!

I'll tell you a little story about a woman who lived across the street from my parents in the retirement community where they had a cottage. She had had RA for years and years and was over 80, having had many of the joints in her hands and feet replaced. I'm glad to tell you she was extremely active in a number of pursuits, but especially in crafting all sorts of things, intricate needlework being among them. So although nobody looks forward to surgery, some remarkable results are being achieved - Betty having enjoyed some of them. She traveled a good deal, too, and was always out driving somewhere.

My husband and I have watched this surgery on TV, and it's nothing short of miraculous.

You've always been a strikingly courageous, strong lady and continue to be so! I love the optimism and willingness to try new approaches that you have. I'm very sorry to hear that these digestive problems have been so severe and persistent, but between Carmen's appetizing creations and the good medical care you've sought, you'll continue to feel better and better. That you have remained tremendously physically active up until the present is not one, but a whole slew of feathers in your cap! emoticon - Susan
