IT Band Update...

Monday, May 13, 2013

So it has been a week since my last run (the half). My ITB feels okay as long as I don't overdue it. Saturday I had PT in the morning followed by walking around a farmer's market for a while. I was really really sore after that.

My ankle is swollen, but the PT said it's just from how I'm walking right now. Ugh. I hate all the over-analyzing of every little ache and pain. I need to be back to healthy! I'm dying to go for a run. A couple more weeks at least, though, before I'm back to it. I do plan to do some hiking and horseback riding next week, though!

So that's that. Little by little this will get better. It's a test of my patience, I guess. I just want to get training for the 1812 challenge! :)

Costa Rica in 5 days!!!

I think someone mentioned it on a previous blog, but I use a foam roller. It is very firm, but it really releases the tightness. My running store is really into the trigger point therapy and showed me how to use it and it makes such a difference. There are also videos on You Tube with instructions on how to use it.

patience my young friend! It's a virtue that is VERY hard for me too! But you know what is best for you and your body - maybe try some yoga to help stretch the IT and relieve some stress?? Relax and get ready to enjoy Costa Rica!

you better behave!!! If you push yourself, you KNOW what will happen. Very difficult to NOT push yourself, I know. As that's your natural inclination!

    just BREATHE

I have my first 5k since last fall coming up on the 18th. I don't even have a good reason...I've just been a slacker when it comes to running. But I plan to get back to one organized 5k per month, and at least 2 - 5 runs per week.

the local YMCA is trying to come up with a 1/2 marathon route so they can set up a race. (They are in charge of the only local 10k now). If there's one right here in town - I'd just have to give it a try! Unless I get nabbed as a volunteer, which is very likely. Either way, it would be great!
