Last week was a tiring week for us. Last Monday was a long work day for me. Then Tuesday morning, about 8 AM, received a call from a dear friend, that his wife passed through the night. I mourned all day Tuesday. My eyes hurt that night. Of course, Wednesday was spent reliving many memories of our friend. The last two years had been a terrible struggle for her. She had lung cancer and never smoked. She had pneumonia the week before she died and was released to go home while still fighting it. The Dr told her husband she was also combating the effects of the chemo, which had been discontinued. Thursday PM we went to the viewing. Friday we went to the funeral. There were "many" old friends that were there. I couldn't help but wonder, which one of the old group would be next.
This was the first dear friend we had lost. As we get older, I guess it is to be expected that more of those we love will pass -- including us. A line from an old gospel song asks, "Anyone here want to live forever? Say "I do." I don't want to live here on this earth forever with all of the heartaches, wickedness, pain . . . But I have chosen to live forever with my Lord Jesus. The blessed hope of going to sleep in Jesus, and waking up in glory with Him, where there is no more pain, suffering, dying gives me and those who believe a special peace.
"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow."
Have a Blessed day, All!
