Let's See I'm Married, Moving to Near Atlanta in a Few Days...

Monday, May 13, 2013

Whew.. Let's recap my life over the past couple months!!!

Well let's see, 10 days before my wedding I found a lump in my breast. It turns out it was a abscess that had to be drained & required me to have a nurse come to my house twice a day to pack the wound (had to heal inside out).

Then on Sunday, April 7 me and the love of my life got married in Puerto Rico!!! San Juan, the whole Island was just BEAUTIFUL!!! emoticon So, even though I wasn't happy with how I looked in my wedding dress because I wasn't my "ideal" size but the EXPERIENCE was BEAUTIFUL!!!

I look forward to re-newing my vows and being happy with my weight b/c I plan to continue to lose weight. On our honeymoon we went on a Private Ssail Boat Tour, Helicopter Tour, Bacardi Rum Factory Tour, The Historic Forts, El Yunque Rainforest, Old San Juan, shopping, & visited the Museum of Puerto Rico!! We had a lot of fun!!

So, fast forward after our honeymoon we came home for 7 days & then turned around to go House Hunting in Georgia. My job is relocating us there. My office is in Athens but we will be living in Lawreneceville (about 30 minutes from Atlanta). We stayed in GA for 10 days searching for a home & we found a GREAT 4 bedroom house!! We move next Friday, 24 May 2013 to GA.

I can say that our marriage is starting off with "NEW Adventures." This is a scary chapter for us because we don't have any family or friends in the area. This is going to be an adjustment but at least we will do it together as a family.

So, I won't be around much on Spark but I will be continuing my Healthy Journey to becoming THE BEST CASSANDRA!!! I want to be a Healthy Wife, Mother, & Woman!

I'm from Georgia and just moved down near LaGrange a few years ago - I lived in Suwanee (very close to Lawrenceville - in fact only a couple of exits from it) for 14 years. Let me know if I can help you with anything - I still have friends in that area!!

Congratulations on your wedding, and on your new job! It IS scary to relocate for a new job, but I have always found that the new place becomes home very soon. Make an effort to meet new people and visit new places in your new home town and you will both feel comfortable soon! emoticon

You can do this! :) When my husband and I moved to GA in 1994 (Forsyth County, north of Atlanta), our nearest family was 1000 miles away. We lived rural, so we couldn't rely on neighbors for support, and as hard as it was starting out, we did find our comfort zone that made life there fabulous!
emoticon And you will too! :)
You'll develop new routines, find your way around town, find your favorite stores and shops, your favorite places to go for fun and entertainment, and begin fixing up your home just the way you want it.
emoticon
We lived there for 14 years before moving even further away from our families (for a new job opportunity for my husband). I have to say, though, that being so far away from family and learning to depend on only each other in good times and in bad for those 14 years in the ATL Metro area really made our move down here to the Florida coast even smoother than we thought. Hurricanes? No problem. We can handle anything together! emoticon

emoticon
Just imagine the holidays that are coming up. Focus on the fun things, and you'll be smiling ear-to-ear as you dream and plan your move.
emoticon
Memorial Day is coming--maybe you can find an inexpensive grill (or maybe you already own a grill?) so you can cook out at home or find a nice park to enjoy a picnic at? Will your new community have a pool? If so, that's a great way to meet any neighbors you might have. :)
emoticon
Then there's the 4th of July! What fun! Fireworks, red/white/blue decorations. Grilled chicken and some chilled potato salad--need I say more? Major Major YUMMY!
emoticon
Most grocery stores in the ATL sell small packs of fireworks and sparklers. Plan to look for a community firework display, or enjoy a pack or two of sparklers right at home in your yard. Have a bucket of water handy for the used ones.
emoticon
Then what comes next? Halloween! All those cute little trick-or-treaters coming to your door for treats in their adorable costumes! Maybe you can carve a pumpkin and put it outside your door? That would create some fun memories for you and your new hubby. :) Our first pumpkin in GA, my hubby decided he'd try to dry out the seeds to eat them later. So he washed them and sat them on foil on our back deck to dry out...and before we knew it, our deck was home to every bird in the North Georgia area! We gave those sweet birds a pumpkin seed FEAST! LOL!
emoticon
And then there's Thanksgiving and the whole holiday season! The leaves changing, and falling, what a beautiful sight that'll be for you! Maybe your family will come to visit you during the holidays, also! You can show them around town, enjoy a meal together cooked in your new kitchen. Maybe they'll join you in the kitchen to cook! Fun! :)
emoticon
Let these happy plans and events keep you smiling as you settle into your new home and unpack all those moving boxes. :) You're going to love Lawrenceville. :)
