Catch Up Blog

Periodically over the last almost four years I've joked about needing a road kill emoticon!

My month changed in a dramatic way. I spent last week in Brownsville, Tx packing my mother up and listing her house. We drove - or I guess I did and she rode - almost 12 hours yesterday to get her to my house. The UHaul is unpacked and returned and she spent her first full day at my house today.

emoticon Last Sunday May 5th - I did complete the Cinco de Miler 5 mile race prior to cleaning up and hoping on the plane to fly to my mom's house. I worked out on Monday with Hip Hop Abs and Tuesday with Insanity and after that it was all I could do to pack everyday.

emoticon Today we unloaded the UHaul, went to church, and she and I skipped off by ourselves to see Tom Cruise in Oblivion. She wanted to see that. I'm doing a small amount of email and work related items and then I'm taking the rest of the evening off.

I'm exhausted but relieved. I'm happy to finally have my mom retire (she's 82) and have her here with me so that I can take care of her.

It's my hope to get back on track and start my 30 day Insanity Asylum over so I can say I did do the 30 day program. I weighed in this morning and I lost 4 lbs last week. I think that was due to packing and do so much physical activity. Not sure if I picked up some small stomach but while down there so I'm hoping to get back on to my normal routine of eating now that I'm back home.

Hope all is well with my friends! How was your week?

I had to move my dad like that about 1 1/2 years ago. He lived 2000 miles from me and after having a mini-stroke decided to sell his home and move closer to where I live. So in a whirlwind of activity I packed up his house ( the movers actually did part of this ), put it on the market for sale, found him a new place to stay near my home, then put him, me, and his cat on a plane all within two weeks. So I have some idea of what your talking about here and how exhausting it can be. Hope your back on your healthy path once again !

I am so glad you and your mom are at your house safe. I know packing and un-packing burn a lot of calories. I hope you can hit the goals you have made for yourself in the next 30 days. I also hope your mom settles in well and makes new friends.
Have fun at the movies emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Now that is what I call a great two weeks. Wonderful that you will help your mom. There are some challenges ahead, but am sure you can handle them, and if you need help, let us know.

May God Bless you as you take on the care of your mother! Life will definitely change, but it sounds like you already have a great support system. I lost my dad in January and know how precious this time is. All these past few years of getting healthy have prepared you for this journey you are embarking on.

Glad you're home safe and sound. I, too, need to get back in to the swing of things. This weekend put me over. Kind of scared to get on the scale, but I have to see the damage. Vegas was great and it was wonderful to get away with my guy. But, now, it's back to reality!!

Nice that you were able to get all this done by Mother's Day. I still have my mom and dad, (80 and 81 years old now) and know we are so blessed to get to spend these years with them. Hope you get back to 'normal' soon.
