I just finished an awesome 45 minute cardio workout! Its a workout that I haven't done in about several months...a video game for Wii called "My Fitness Coach." Now maybe you might think a video game couldn't really be such a great workout. But trust me, this one really makes me WORK and sweat! Here's a Youtube video of the cardio workout portion;

Anyway, this is the workout I started with on March 1, 2012. I was 286 lbs back then, and the thought of doing 45 minutes of cardio seemed like the impossible dream! I could barely get through 15 minutes of that workout, and I had to modify a lot of the moves and go at a slower pace. And even then, I would be exhausted at the end of the workout! But I stuck with it, and within a few months I was able to workout longer, and although I still had to make modifications, I was really proud of my progress. I continued doing that workout daily, until I started to get bored with it. Then I put it away for a while, but I always knew I'd eventually want to come back to it. And now, almost 6 months later, I'm doing that workout again.

Today's workout was amazing, because I could see how much FITTER I've gotten since the last time I did it! Not only did I have more endurance, but I had more strength. I could actually do all the moves that I had to modify before, this time without having to modify them! Oh, it was a struggle to do certain moves, but thats what makes it great. Struggles make you stronger, after all. I never get frustrated when I struggle with a workout. I actually look forward to struggles, because I know I will eventually get better if I just keep trying. And to me, one of the best feelings in the world is when I can finally do something that used to be too hard for me.

There once was a time when I used to say I didn't have time to workout. Funny though...I always had time to sit and watch TV. I had all the time in the world to eat unhealthy food. I had plenty of time to sit around and hope that "someday", I would lose weight. But really, I was just wasting every moment of my life. Thank God, I don't do that anymore. I DO have time to workout, because I make it a priority. I always remind myself that I am worth my best effort. And you are worth YOUR best effort too!

    We have a Wii, but I have never used it. I am going to have to get my grandson to show me how to use it, which is really sad since he is only 5 years old. emoticon

    You made my whole day by posting that picture with the quote "if you are struggling, that's a good thing! It means you haven't given up."

I have been struggling so much with my diet lately.. but whereas before, I would've "fallen off the wagon" and given up the whole week to loss.. I fought and only went over calories on 4 days. I also made sure I was exercising. Sure, it wasn't ideal but it wasn't giving up! I was struggling against myself and my old ways!

Thank you, you really just made a huge difference in my journey today :)

    I don't have time really means "it isn't a priority". If you have time to sit on the couch and watch TV you have time to exercise. I started by jogging on my mini tramp while watching TV and I still do that sometimes!

    Way to go, Pixie! That's great that you could come back to "My Fitness Coach" and see how much you've improved over the months!

My son asked for the Wii back, and since it is his, after all, I had to let it go. But it is an amazing tool! I had so much fun on it! For anyone who doubts, yes, a "game" can be a GREAT workout!

Hope you had a great Mother's Day!

    The majority of my exercise has been done with the Wii. Picking the right games, there are some great workouts out there!
