Remembering Our Mothers

Sunday, May 12, 2013

Bob's mother died when he was 19. The circumstances were tragic so the memories have a taint of sadness. Today we remember the good times he had with her. I always put a geranium on her grave.

My mother lived to age 88. She and I gave my father care after his stroke and aneurysm for almost 30 years. I have so many memories of her that are positive along with typical daughter memories.

I find it comforting to sit on the bench near the graves and spend time in prayer. I am thankful for the values, love, and care that parents give.

I'm sorry your mom is no longer here but it's nice that you can sit by the graves and enjoy their presence. I know I'm lucky to still have my parents and got to spend some time talking with mom on the phone this evening.

I think it is wonderful on this day to remember our mothers, who have passed away. My mom lived until the age of 84 and loved her daughters dearly. I just spent brunch with a friend reminiscing about our mom's; so it was nice to see your blog, when I got back home. Thanks.
