First Happy Mother's Day to all moms! That includes those that have given birth, adopted, fostered, have been a birth mother, and those that have fur kids. I include Godmothers, aunties, cousins, and anyone who is like a "second mom."
I ran my 2.25 hilly route this morning in 20 minutes. I needed that as the day before I ran my 3.25 route and tried to pace myself. My time was 36 minutes. Not my best, but I RAN every hill! I'm determined to figure this running out!
Mother's Day is a mix of emotion for me. On one hand I love celebrating my own Mom and having the kids show appreciation for me. On the other hand it was six years ago on Mother's Day that my Dad was called Home. I was sitting right beside him when he left us. He had been ill for five years and bedridden for the last two.
Throughout all this my Mom kept him at home and we helped care for him. In all those years he NEVER had one bedsore. My Mom was that attentive. It was a great "lesson" for my kids to see that we take care of family, no matter what. I should mention that my Mom is 18 years younger than my Dad so she was able to care for him.
The lyrics, "I hope that I'm 1/2 the (parent) that he didn't have to be" is so fitting for him. You see he married my mom and adopted me when I was 13. Before that I never had a father. I was very blessed to have such a strong example of a loving father in my life.
Enjoy your family today, not matter what that family looks like! I also want to thank my "SparkFamily" for all the support you've given me while on this journey! I feel very blessed today.
