Happy Mother's Day!

I wanted to wish all the Mom's out there a Happy Mother's Day. I personally feel the best thing I can do as a Mom is to take care of me so I'm starting to make my health a priority and there are times my daughter doesn't understand, but I let her know that this is important so I need to devote time to make my menu for the next week. I need to devote time to recording the calories I eat. I need to devote time to exercise. Sometimes it's doing something fun like batting a balloon back and forth with my daughter or riding bikes or rollerskating, but sometimes it's stretches, strength training or just dancing. I like to mix it up so that different muscles in my body are worked.
Yesterday we did our annual tradition of going to the Domes. I love it because it's a fun way to get exercise in and I get to see wonderful plants and ideas for my flower garden. When we got home, we walked around to check on my plants to see which ones have revived and which ones are still in hibernation. I also saw that some of my daffodils did make it up! That was a nice surprise and I took a pic. Now I can go get some rocks and shroud that area and think about getting the lilac bush! Flower gardening to me is another fun way to get exercise. I'm all about fun because I thought about why I was so active when I was younger and it was simple...it was fun! I didn't think of it as exercise. I was outside playing so to me that's the goal is to do things where exercise is not thought of exercise, but something fun that I want to do.
However, I have to always worry about injuries so it's about listening to my body too. So like today I'm sore from the events of yesterday so my day will be about doing light activity and stretching because if I don't, those sore muscles will pull on my back and other parts and then I will be down for the count and I hate that more than anything. So I've been dancing as I wash dishes (I have music playing so that gets me wanting to dance). I will be doing some more stretching in a bit to help my legs recover and my shoulder stretches as well. It's going to be a laid back day and that's okay. Every day I don't need to be moving at full speed. Sometimes it's good to give my body a little break and be able to heal so my muscles get stronger and able to do more.
Today I got on the scale and there was no change and that's okay. Considering I had to eat out a lot last week, this is good. I'd rather have no change than the scale go up. This week I will work harder so I can budge that scale more. I really would like to meet the goal of 5% of my body weight gone. That would reduce my risks of diabetes and put me on the path that I need to be on. I'm almost to 2 cups of water so I'm going to pick up the pace on that as well. Kind of slept in today so I'm going to have to guzzle a bit today which is fine. I could use the energy boost.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and remember, any time we do something. That is better than nothing. Keep on sparking!
