I got up and fiddled around half the morning before deciding to go to the grocery store. The family wanted to go with me, which means over spending, I did not have a list, which means over spending. So, I was not prepared, but went anyway.
Over an hour at the store, Mr. Commandment Budget had a fit when the numbers were in. He forgets several things though. First, the kid and he both take their lunches, so there is almost 50 dollars a pay period not being spent at the fast food/cafeteria (which is offset by us spending more at the store). I am eating during the daytime (until last month I did not eat all day and then gorged all evening). So, while we went over by more than we should have (try to get by on 400$ a month on food for the family/household needs), we rarely go out to eat, and around 50 of that budget is spent on doggie food, treats, toilet paper, turtle food, beetle bedding, etc. Lesson Learned: ALWAYS MAKE A LIST PRIOR TO SHOPPING!
The family split off from me near the end of the trip to buy my Mother's day gift. I was excited! I did not want anything expensive, just something that said "hey! we love ya!". Can't wait to find out what it was!
So, this pay period, I bought things that do not require much cooking. It heats the house and we do not have air conditioning. I take that back, they had turkeys on sale for .80 /lb. So I got a turkey to do leftovers for days with. But, the rest of the food was geared towards sandwiches and raw fruits. Did canned veggies this time, because I can get 3cans for the same price as a bag of frozen veg.
As for my personal daily goals... I got 10 waters in, I stayed within my calorie limit (barely). I chose not to exercise today (the walking around the grocery store for an hour counted as my exercise today).
Even though tomorrow is my day, I am a mother!, I can guarantee I will be the only one cooking, cleaning, etc. But, I am still going to play it up being my day. Every year, my days (birthday, mom's day, valentines day, etc) go by silently and without much fan fare. Tomorrow, I am going to toot the mother's day horn all day long!!! Even while I am doing laundry!
