I know its Mom's Day, but really, who does it help to celebrate with food?
This year we will celebrate at my brother's home. we will celebrate all mom's on both his and his wife's sides. And there will be food.
His wife's side is Italian.
Trust me, there will be FOOD.
There will be finger foods, chips, cheese trays, pasta, homemade meatballs, sauce, sauce, steaks,,hamburgers, hot dogs, salads (not lettuce ones) and probably a lettuce one, but that will be laden with "stuff", drinks, pastries, cookies, cakes.
weekends are usually rough for me. last night I slipped much, I thought, but still did not go over.
I am concerned because I know me. There is this voice telling me, screw it, enjoy. There is this voice saying, the only one you are hurting is you. I hate this crap.

I grew up in an Italian family too so know just what you mean about food, and lots of it!
We do need to refocus on why we are together and not how much food there should be; and put out healthier options.

Take a deep breath and do your best. Its just one day. Try not to spoil your Mother's Day with negative self talk or spoil your goals by just giving up. You really can do this.
