Dinner with Mom, only a little scary this time!

Sunday, May 12, 2013

I went to dinner at Red Lobster with my mother and my brother today. My mother didn't recognize me. My brother took one look at me and then did a double take! Mom was telling me that her daughter's favorite color is purple and she would like what I was wearing very much. I asked her how many daughters did she have. And then told her that it was me, her only daughter. At one point my brother was looking at me, and I said "What,?" He just said "You look so good!" This sure does help the ego a bit!
Dinner was good and something happened that I really believe was divine intervention! My mother and I ordered the same thing, and the waiter misunderstood us and thought that we meant we both wanted the same thing, just one entrée. I did think something was a little off when he didn't ask me what I wanted for my sides with my dinner. When he brought it to us my first reaction was "There is only one here you need to go get another one". And then got to looking at the plate. It really was enough for both of us so I told the waiter "Don't worry about it, I think you're a genius!" It was plenty of food for both of us but we didn't walk away feeling overfull.
Having my brother there helped. I hadn't seen him or talked to him in over three years. That WILL NOT happen again.

What a great day! I'm so happy for you!! And how I'd love to get a compliment like that & a double-take from my brother (or anyone!!) Great NSV for your dedicated, hard work.

And I'm glad it went well with your mom. Savor that good memory...keep it alive!

Have a terrific day tomorrow! emoticon

I am SO happy for you. This has to have been a major moment for you, a turning point in the sad relationship you have endured with your mom. I am glad you and your brother are going to reestablish a relationship and that he is supportive.
