Tried Zumba today

Saturday, May 11, 2013

I tried Zumba today. I've wanted to try for a long time. WOW! It is very fast moving, and I am not coordinated enough for many of the moves. If I had a friend try with me, I may have stuck to it longer. If I lose more weight, I will try again. Maybe I can do better then. emoticon

One of the biggest misconceptions about Zumba that a few people have is that they'll "get it", immediately, on the first day. When they don't, they quit. They don't try again, attempt to modify the moves for their fitness level or put any real effort in, they just quit. Not saying you've done that, but others have.
Doing well with Zumba has nothing to do with how much one weighs or even if you've ever taken a dance class before. You have to be able to follow along from visual cues. Zumba is for those who have the dedication, through consistency and practice, to learn it. If you don't have the dedication to learn it, then starting up again at a later date isn't going to make much of a difference. If your goal was just to try something new, then pat yourself on the back for having done that.
Try using workout DVDs and working out at home by yourself instead. If even that is too much for you, try just using cardio machines. A treadmill or exercise bike is pretty straight forward. If you want to dance, put on some music and dance around. It isn't Zumba, but at least you'll be moving.
