Feeling good and bad about today....

Saturday, May 11, 2013

My diet was not on track but I will put everything in. I did not eat until noon and I was up at 5ish so I was starving. I kept pretty busy with volunteering at the show for four hours and then riding 3 tests followed by the ride home and cleaning the barn and then going to the store with the GrandD. I get to wake up tomorrow and cook breakfast for everybody that shows. I hope to get a little cleaning done before they get here. That ol' 8-6 shift all week kind of interfered with my house cleaning this week. I am working 6-6 all next week so it's looking like I will be buried in housework by the end of next week.
Sooooo...on to the horse show....I am not sure how it went.....I only got to warm up for 5 minutes before my first ride....TL test 2 and we scored a 56.something and got 5th out of 7 riders. Then we did TL test 3 and scored a 60.8 and got 4th out of six riders. That one actually felt better than it was scored. Then my last test was First level test one and I know we do not have our lengthenings for this test, but I just wanted some ring time for him. We scored a 58.something and got a first place out of 3 riders. It was weird that the harder the test, the better we placed, but he was way below his range. I plan on being a serious contender at TL and we were high 60s at the end of last year. However, our canter work was way better and was scored better, yet his nose was stuck out for all the test.
So, I am looking at it this way, he is improving, but he need to get back into the swing of things and get more round, which may be because he just needs a little tuning up on his exercise too...
On a bright point, I got my volunteering done at the first horse show of the year so I don't have to worry about it anymore this year!

The first show is always the hardest! After not being able to ride much all winter, you had real respectable scores! My horse always did better in the harder tests, I think I was pushing a little harder! emoticon

Sounds like a typical first's like doing a run through to see how things are really going. Now you have your basis for the summer's know where the weaknesses are and what to work on. Those were good scores for an early spring show considering you could not ride all winter! emoticon
At this point in time I don't think Roxy and I would have the stamina to last the whole 4-5 minutes!! She'd be like a deer in the headlights with big eyes and head up..back inverted and I'd be a flopping sack of jello! LOL!

Sounds like you know your horses. Good job and to know you can work with your horse to improve is a good thing. God bless. emoticon

No matter how much work you have ahead of you, always take time for yourself, you did great with still logging in all your food. Tomorrow is a fresh start. Keep up the good work. emoticon

Good job for entering everything even when you aren't happy with it! Stick with it!
