Spark, a refreshing change from Facebook

Saturday, May 11, 2013

This blog will be short and sweet. I am finding that I am spending more and more time on Spark and less and less time on Facebook. Spark has so much to offer. Support, motivation, recipes, exercises, advice, etc. Not to mention the fact that I have heard nothing but kinds words from everyone on here. It's lovely! It's refreshing to have a place to go and converse with people and share ideas and more importantly, with people who treat people nicely and respectfully.

You can not say this about Facebook. Sure, you post a pic of your kids or your family and you get a lot of likes and a lot of, "beautiful family" comments. However, you also have to deal with reading people's crappy messages. I mean, do we really have to post foul language or inappropriate pictures. And don't get me started on the one's that are always expressing their political views or what they are doing every second of the day. fyi, I don't care that your cleaning out your closet today!

So, I'm just saying that it's nice to have a place to go to get inspired instead of annoyed. If you agree, you can hit my like button. Oh wait, spark doesn't have one. Thank Goodness!!

and thank you Spark, for a refreshing change of pace.

Ha, my news feed, on account of all the zumba instructors is pretty much "zumba zumba zumba" to the point where THAT drives me nuts! emoticon I had to unfriend one person because no joke she would post about it 5-15 times DAILY. Sooooo annoying! Serious case of FB diarrhea.

But yes, I hate political posts, or the ones where people want to tell the whole world what a POS their BF/GF/BFF/neighbor/family member/dog is. Ugh. We all KNOW 2 hours after you post "Once a fool always a fool, this time I'm done with him for good" you're going to be hanging out with him again. Ha. Yes, much better environment here!

You are so right. This is a very positive, inspirational helpful website, with so many nice people. Nobody trying to get "like" votes for everything under the sun,,, but yes.... we still do have a like button, but I think that's a good thing in this case!! emoticon

LOL I could NOT agree more with everything you said! Facebook for me is one of those necessary evils - I need it to stay in touch with friends, but oh it's such a pain in the butt sometimes and frequently so irritating. Hooray for sparkpeople!

It is so much more positive here! People have similar goals to get healthy and I definitely think that begins with the attitude and mindset. Facebook has turned into some sort of cyber high school where everyone wants to get the most likes (popularity contest, anyone?) or push their own agendas (insert whomever's rights here/guns/religion/marriage) and then argue about it! really, who has time for that nonsense? I enjoy the positive support and hearing about people's achievements! The positives, the good things (or sometimes) the not so good things, but it definitely appears that Spark is way more genuine. I guess, perhaps some of the anonymity adds to that? Regardless- I agree.

Thanks for your support on my blog as well and the add! I look forward to seeing all of your success as I get my life back to healthy as well!

Ok, so apparently, spark does have a like button. Just noticed it when I was reading someone else's blog. Ooops, my bad. So much for my witty "like button" comment.

I posted a similar blog a couple weeks ago. I still check FB to keep up with my family, but SP is definitely where I go to keep up my attitude and energy.
