I've ALWAYS WANTED TO FEEL healthy and have a bounce in my step going out to visit the sick and shut in, volunteering in the community and the weight I am now is not where I want to be. I admire those whose weight don't affect them, but mine does and this year 2013 I don't want to be at this point ANYMORE! my DOCTOR SAID my cholesterol was border line and she is giving me a few months to get my weight under control AND I REALLY DON'T WANT TO BE ON ANY Medications if I can help it. The fact I've been feeling light headed and dizzy tells me I'm not doing to well... but I don't want to call the Dr. because I know I need to change what I'm eating -- It's so funny I've know all my life I'm at my BEST SELF when I eat fish, chicken, turkey, fresh fruits and vegetables -- WHY I DON'T STICK TO IT emoticon --- giving up is not an option for me any more -- I'm here to change who I am and learn portion control, etc. a few years ago I wouldn't have written a blog - but it's funny now -- it feels good to let it out emoticon

Good for you for moving forward and I'm sure you'll find blogging just like going to a group meeting. Sparkers often comment, help and make suggestions. I'm fighting the borderline chlestorol and pre-diabetic diagnosis as well. Sometimes we need that swift kick to make us get more focus. I wish you much success with kicking it to the curb without medication

Several years ago I read an article in a ladies magazine about a diet called, " Show Me Diet" by a Dr. Gabe Merkin. I hope I have his name spelled correctly. Anyhow, it claimed one could lose 10 ls in 2 weeks.

This Dr. Developed this diet for diabetes ( and I'm thinking also heart problems if I recall properly. )

His wife is a dietitian. On the web, they also had some good recipes.

If this is of interest, let me know, and I will locate the website.

Evidently, this diet also caused people to lose weight too. I guess it was a side effect.

I had been 27 lbs over. I should. I have been so for 8 years.

I lost the rest of my extra weight in 3 1/2 weeks doing this program and exercising. I have kept it off. emoticon

Well, I am glad you blogged about it. The foods you mentioned are what needs to be eaten. I have confidence that you are serious enough to get started and stick with it. When health is involved, it becomes very personal.
