I'm excited because my new book, Spark Solutions, arrived in my mail on Thursday. I didn't open the package (although I knew what it was!) until yesterday but I haven't even cracked open the poor thing. It's sitting on my lamp table in the living room just waiting for me to tickle it's pages with my fingers. It's going to have to be patient, though.
I will have to admit that I lead a busy life, but what mom doesn't, right? I also work nights & sleep days, am trying to get ready for a graduation party, trying to stick with my half-marathon training schedule AND I'm starting my 6th day of a 21-day purification program. I know that I don't have the time to dedicate myself to an additional program until sometime in June - maybe I can have read the book all the way through by the time I start. Reports of it's greatness are promising!! I'm sure I will love it.
My purification program is pretty much a fruit & veggie program, fresh or frozen, with shakes made with some whole food powdered supplement and healthy oil and frozen fruits. I eat no dairy or grains except for brown rice during those 3 weeks and a limited amount of extra protein. There are specific whole-food supplements that I also take in a capsule form 3 times a day during the 3 weeks. I usually don't lose much weight during the process but I always feel re-energized and healthier after I complete the program. This is the first time I've done the purification program since starting SparkPeople and it's amazing how much easier it is to pick out the healthy options. I haven't had to adjust anything that I've eaten except cut out the dairy and grains. I guess I've learned a lot with SparkPeople!!!
And . . . I've lost 4 pounds in the 5 days that I've been doing the purification program and have felt fantastic. My energy levels are much higher and I don't feel deprived (except for the lack of my coffee!) I have been drinking a little decaf because I love the taste of coffee compared to tea. Even if I don't lose any additional weight I feel so much better and that's the most important thing for me right now.
