Well, I spent many hours indulging myself in the stack of InStyle magazines that had piled up. Out of the stack I've torn out about 75 pages to keep for inspiration.
Looks I'm going to pass on:
Transparent skirts and dresses
Peek-a-boo cutout dresses
Pencil skirts with camouflage tops
Sky high stilettos
$1,000 plus handbags
Trends I like:
Mirror floral prints
Silk pajama style tops
Mixed prints, colors and metals
Multi strand necklaces
From this point forward I'll try to read my magazine monthly. InStyle seems to work for me as it's already interpreting some of the designs that appear in Vogue or Bazaar and dumbing them down for schlubs like me. If I had more time or lived in a city I might subscribe to Vogue but it's just not something I aspire to.
I had to laugh, a couple years ago I went to this hole in the wall (and not in a good way) discount hair cutting place. Supercuts would have been upmarket in comparison and the only magazines they had there to read were Town and Country magazines. Talk about trying to make someone feel bad about their lot in life! Ha!
I guess I need more practical fashion help than aspirational lifestyle influence. Now I'm off to make some jewelry, at least I won't have to grow those pieces out when I lose more weight.
