I have not been hitting very many PRs lately. It seems that they all come at once, then disappear for months. It looks like I'm coming out of that rut though!

I really loved yesterday. We started off with 1 snatch EMOM (every minute, on the minute) for 18 minutes. I have this weird thing where I like to PR when no one is looking (or paying attention). This became kind of a running joke during strength class last fall. I need a no pressure situation or else my brain just screws me over. EMOM snatches worked perfectly for this. I made it to 73#. It wasn't too pretty, more of a power snatch/overhead squat, but I've missed that SO MANY TIMES in Oly class it felt great to finally make it!

After that, it was 1 clean and jerk EMOM for 12 minutes. I made it up to 113#, a 5# PR. We finished class with heavy triples of back squats. I only got up to 133# (my max is 153#) because my legs were pretty worn out after all the snatches and clean and jerks.

Today was THE BEAR! It is one of my friend's absolute favorite WODs and her love of it has rubbed off on me. I don't remember having any strong feelings about it either way before, but when I saw it programmed last night I couldn't help but get excited. If you don't know, The Bear is 5 rounds of:
1 power clean
1 front squat
1 push press
1 back squat
1 push press

You have to go through that sequence seven times WITHOUT PUTTING THE BAR DOWN. Then you can rest as needed until the next round. There is no prescribed weight, you just work up to the heaviest you can do and then you can back down for the last set or two. I last did it in August 2012 and my max weight was 68. Today I did 73# on the third round and it wasn't as hard as I thought, so I tried 78 and got through it. 10# PR!

Tomorrow I was going to go to Oly class for the faux Oly meet, but I'm not sure if I'll go anymore. I want to go to the Farmer's Market and get starter plants for my garden, so I might just go to a regular class earlier in the morning. I've done a lot of snatches and clean and jerks lately (the last few Oly classes + Thursday), but we'll see how I feel tomorrow.
