Today's good news

Friday, May 10, 2013

Back in 2008 I had quite a trauma. In a routine mammogram they found "something". They just didn't know what it was so I was sent for further tests. Eventually, I went for a sterotatic biopsy and that came back inconclusive. What a nightmare. They told me my best option was to have it removed (lumpectomy), analyzed and we would go from there (i.e. if it was cancer I could start chemo or radiation).

It took 10 days for the results to come back. 10 days of sweating it out, not sleeping and fear like I have never known. The result was that it was benign. What a relief!! The Dr. told me it was what they call "precancerous" but it hadn't turned yet. I was fine. Hooray!!

Back in September I went for my yearly mammogram and I always get a sonogram on that breast because of what happened. When they did the sonogram they found what they believe was a cyst. Because of my past they wanted to see what it looked like in 6 months to be sure of what it was.

Today, (yes, I was late) I went for the scan. Turns out it really WAS a cyst and it had broken, dissolved and wasn't even there anymore. I exhaled!! I felt like I had been holding my breath for the entire time. I'm happy!!! Don't have to worry about this for another year.
