Mountains: Emotional and Physical

Friday, May 10, 2013

So last night I conquered my first night of being alone. Now, I've been alone before mind you, between the ex working nights and my kid going on sleepovers but this was my first one where I knew it was just me. Well, I did have my dog, and that was nice.

I made sure not to wallow. I jacked up the stereo and later got on the treadmill. Watched the Voice while doing intervals for 75 minutes (got steamed at Adam for letting go one of my faves.)

Had a small dinner while watching home improvement shows and making project lists. I haven't done that in FOREVER!!!! (Did I mention that with mother moving in, I lucked into a very large television that I have in my room?....niiiiiiice.)

Anyway, while I did have some shaky moments in the stillness of it, I did quite well. Later, a rainstorm rumbled and stumbled through and I drifted off to sleep.

Quite anti-climatic from what I had pictured....I am stronger than I think I am.

So that mountain is tackled. Not that there won't be more, but I know I can be successful at it.

Sunday is the real mountain...It's a small local one but still has Mountain in its name at the state park. My son and I are planning to do that for Mother's Day. Climb to the top and take pictures. This mountain will be my guage for fitness and empowerment. Periodically, in the next year, my son and I will climb to the top and see how we felt while climbing and how we feel at the top. I both anticipate it and dread it (It IS a mountain, LOL!)

I hope you all have a healthy happy weekend!

I'm so proud of you, Tina! You did just great! And I love climbing the mountain with Boo as your mother's day activity and fitness gauge.

Oooooooo You must take pictures and share them on Sunday. Im jealous because id totally climb that with you. What a metaphor for you right now in this chapter in your life! Ill make sure to be sending you love and light that day as you climb to the top. Make sure to take a moment when you get there and experience it- you win, you conqured it, its yours. Its YOUR life. Man, you OWNED that mountain. Of course Im speaking in the future tense because I know that you can and you will.

PS. totally thought of you last night while watching the weather channel. Im very jealous of your severe weather.

Love the mountain climbing idea...sounds like a perfect Mother's Day! My son is 20 and this is the first Mother's Day I won't be with him...he's not able to make the trip home from college.

Best wishes as you continue to meet each challenge. I have faith in your strength and courage!
