Usually I write my blog at the end of the day. But as I am planning how to fit in all that must be accomplished on this day, I thought I'd share first.
Fabulous Friday is always filled with the housework preps for the weekend: dustings, vacuuming, bathroom cleanings, laundry and ironing. These tasks happen throughout the week. However, I have a mindset of "clearing the decks" for Saturday and Sunday so that none of it has to be done then. Now, granted, in retirement (you know "put on new tires and drive off again!
), I do have the time for such preparations, well mostly.
Today the list has lengthened considerably:
The organic soil, humus and compost we purchased this week ought to be "lazagna-ed" into large planters for the tomatoes. (Black flies will be biting soon)!
The finishing touches need to be hand-sewn on the costumes for our Saturday Mother's Day Brunch tomorrow. As Evening Star Tappers we five are performing two old songs for the ladies - Sunnyside of the Street and Paddlin' Madeline Home. My part is to stitch back the bindings of collars and arm holes and hem any that need that.
Since I am the speaker also, my ten-minute talk has to be tweaked to be sure it has transitions,
instead of Nellie-thinkings, that expect an audience to know where I'm going!
Rehearsal is at 6 PM, so I'd best hustle!
Oh, I forgot, we need to eat...let's see. How about oatmeal for breakfast as we had that egg omelet yesterday. The big meal: kale with onions and garlic in cider, green beans
, a little strip of steak
(should we try the grill for the first time this season?), sweet potato/white potato bake
(with extra for the weekend). Supper will be a salad
, I think, unless we have our Greek yogurt special
with fresh fruit and almonds as a treat. Oops, just remembered...tomorrow's brunch may have some "heavies"
, I'd best do things lightly today for myself. (DH can have the goodies).
There, now to work!
