And Again...

I'm trying... again. My blood sugar is sky high....again. I feel crappy.....again. Why do I do this over and over again. I could of been in good health, off meds for heart, diabetes and cholesterol if I had of just stuck with it.....just once.

My blood sugars have been up to where it just reads high on my meter. It's been averaging in the 300s most of the time. It dips down into the 200s at times but mainly in the 300s.

So my husband, my son and my daughter in law have all decided to try juicing. Yes, juicing....sounds so boring and bland. The stuff looks disgusting and a sickly green....but it's not too bad. We decided to do a 5 day cleanse. If we can stick with it, we'll go longer but we'll have to see. We started on Monday and this is how it went....so far

Monday- We juiced 3 times this day with plenty of water. Seemed to be fine. Wasn't too hard and it didn't taste too bad. We had the Garden Blend and one that my daughter in law made up.
Blood sugar is still high, I feel crappy, very tired and it felt like it was such an effort to do anything.

Tuesday- We juiced 2 times then we all broke down and went to Sizzler...BUT....we did good. We all had the salad bar with vinegerette dressing....no bread, no desserts, no fried chicken, or soup.....just salad. We all walked out of there very proud of ourselves. We drank lots of water. I felt a little better and my blood sugars were in the high 200s and low 300s.

Wednesday- We juiced one time....only because we are out and my husband is looking for a job so we aren't home so much. So we stopped at Burger King. Guess again!!! We had salads with grilled chicken and vinegerette and water. Then for dinner we had salad again for dinner. Just veggies with some egg, Lots of water. I feel better. The fogginess seems to be less. My feet aren't swollen and my blood sugars stayed in the 200s all day. I've also lost 5 lbs. Yep....I know....water weight but a loss is a loss.

Thursday- got up and checked my blood sugar....191. I haven't seen the 100s in months so I'm really pleased. I also lost another 3 lbs! I'm feeling more alert. Not so much the big energy boost they say your suppose to get but it could because I'm not just juicing. We juiced in the morning and had a salad from taco bell...the new Cantina bowl which I didn't realize had rice in it but I left as much as I could of that in the bowl. Then for dinner we had veggie kabobs and salad.

Really, I gave it a good try juicing, but I need to chew!! Just swallowing juice just doesn't do it for me and I seriously doubt I would of stuck with strictly juicing much longer. Tomorrow, we will be out again but we'll drink our juice in the morning and get another salad in the afternoon as we will be out looking for jobs again.

This really seems to be working and my blood sugars are going down and that makes it so worth it. I don't want to die. I don't want to lose my sight and I don't want to lose a limb. My feet are so numb now and my eye sight has gotten worse and I don't want to end up on insulin just yet, so I NEED to do this. I think I'm doing so much better just here in the first 5 days.....so I think I'll keep doing what we've been doing and see how it goes.

    Dawn, plant based and lean proteins are exactly what we're going to be doing. The third day is when things started, lets just say, loosening up...lol. Stomach hurt and the whole thing so glad that parts over. Thanks for your support and best of luck to you !

LillyBy50, Yes!! My blood sugars dropped another 10 pts this morning so it really does seem to be working!! We've been eating salads for our dinner so yes, I'm chewing! But normally no, you just drink juice and that's it. I love carbs too and that is the hardest thing to give up. I miss my breads, chips, and anything carb :( Thank you for your support and best of luck to you in your journey!

    emoticon From one diabetic to another I understand. Raw is a good way to go.. have you seen the Reboot website ? while some juice others just as you stay plant based with some protein ..

Juicing is hard and around day three you start to really flush out toxins that can make you feel like total carp.

    Sounds like you are on the right track and have good support around you which makes a big difference.

I understand the need to chew ---- can you at least chew on carrotts or celery or is that not allowed when you "juice".

I am a big carb fan, so juicing sounds terrifying to me!

I am glad this is improving your numbers!
