How do you read an eye exam script?

Thursday, May 09, 2013

My DH and I went to the eye doctor yesterday for our routine eye exam. She said I would need glasses before DH. Looking at the scripts...mine says OD (right eye) -0.25 and OS (left eye) -1.25. DH's script says OS -2.25 and OS -2.00. Wouldn't it look like he needs the new glasses first? DH remembers the doc say something about my left eye 100 something or other. Ugh, why don't they put explanations on these scripts.

I'm going to call her tomorrow.

Courti, I sent you an email on how to read an eyeglass prescription, but it looks like your idea to call your doctor would be best for clarifying.

P.S. Excellent observation from your friend KACAR51.

I think that you have a larger difference between the two numbers and that would make it harder for you to focus. One eye working harder than the other. Your husbands numbers are closer together, so the two eyes work together better! Hope this helps a little! emoticon

It could just be that your eyes had more of a change than his did this time. I don't know how to read scrips. emoticon

It certainly seems like his prescription is higher than yours.
