Woke up to no hot water, and so did no exercise because I did not want to sit around in my workout clothes shivering until whatever time they could get it fixed. It was a broken pump. Not too likely hot water will trickle down 16 floors to me until they got it fixed. So I alternated between Sparking and work and then all of a sudden, my internet and phone died! It was time to go to the club and report the game from yesterday anyway. So I did so and had four people sign up with the American Contract Bridge League while there. Three gave me cheques which meant I had to mail their applications in and the fourth gave me cash so I could go online and sign her up using my credit card. I discovered I was out of both address labels and US stamps, so needed to go to the store and then make up some labels. While without internet, I started up my Vitamix -you are supposed to run warm water and dish washing liquid through it first before using it to make sure there are no residue manufacturing dust and pieces. I was totally astonished how easy to use it was! I had always resisted getting a blender that Mom wanted to give me because I was afraid with my arthritic hands I would not be able to lift the container (this plastic one is so light) or shut the lid securely enough -goes down easy or secure the plug -went in like a dream! And placing it on top of the machine required no effort at all -it doesn't even lock into place, just sits there, so its just as easy to lift out. The other astonishing thing was how quiet it was! My immersion blender makes far and away more noise!
I also got setting up and playing my Bose -as radio reception is so poor at the bottom of a 16 story building and surrounded by tall buildings, I have to depend on CD's so got the 3 CD changer for my Bose (with Air Miles of course -never going to put out cash when I can use those) The first CD I put in was Paul Simon's Graceland. Like WOW! Love it!! Made me want to get up and boogie big time! I have been listening to my TV's digital music station which has to go through the tiny TV speakers and doesn't sound all that great. I had been missing what true stereo sound is like! Pure heaven! I just wish I had a spot in my living room to set it up so I could go on my elliptical listening to it (its in my bedroom)
So I looked high and low and just couldn't think of an appropriate gift for the two women of our bridge club achieving a high ranking in the ACBL. Then I saw these compacts. I know both women use makeup and these looked nice and had room for engraving on the back:
The other one:
The back, it was very hard to get this to show up, had to use my own reflection lol:
They both opened up to be a double mirror. Ladies who use these things tell me how useful that is. Do you think these were a good idea? I thought it would be better then another pen set, mug, clock or business card holder which none of them have anyway.
I also bought these little blank cards that sort of matched the compacts and wrote a personal note to each in them:
To go with the pink one:
No one at the club could give me any ideas, but this one women's best friend was sure pushing me to get something and kept pestering me about it. I rise to a challenge any day, but shopping is simply not my forte, and especially about what women might like as I have always been a Tomboy. When I reached a milestone I said I would appreciate the pen set as I wouldn't know what to do with a candlestick holder lol. I also don't use make up so this was foreign territory to me.
More work to be done, it never ends :P
Have a Totally Terrific Thursday evening!
Thanks for stopping by!
