how do you stop eating the food you crave?

I am really working on going from a mindset where I feel as though I LOVE certain foods to a mindset where I know that these are just cravings. But this is so hard to do. I have a theory: that busy hands are hands that aren't shoving food in your mouth! Anyways, all this promising to myself that I won't eat this or that is so hard. I just have to come to the realization that I have a completely unhealthy relationship with foods and that needs fixing. Kind of like when I gave my life to the Lord, I need to give it to healthy habits too. They will only make me better. But no one said this was going to be a piece of cake, LOL.

    I'm with Pennysaver2. Let go of one thing at a time. Make it a streak than after another month add something else. I think the hardest thing we can put ourselves through is letting go of everything at once. It's not even that we have to let it go we need to learn moderation. emoticon Donna

  I totally understand where you are coming from. It is not easy to give up our special cravings, but Philippians 4:13 promises us his strength as we make the effort.

    Everyone has to figure out how to handle it. I started by letting myself have my treats, then gradually found myself wanting them less and less often. Others find that they just can't even have a bite without overdoing it. Still others find that smaller portions and substituting similar but healthier treats works. You will figure it out. You have a great attitude.

    It is hard to give up the foods we love. Some people find it best to go cold turkey and completely leave them alone. Others, including myself find it easier to just have a small portion of them now and then. What ever works for you is the best way! Best Wishes! emoticon

    For me I have a small portion of the food I crave..or a large portion if I can fit it into my calories..mostly because I'll obsess about that particular food and overeat if I don't have it at all. Example..I love chocolate and had just chocolate for dinner one night because I needed to get that out of my system..now I can look at chocolate without really wanting it (for now!)..you'll figure out a balance that works for you. I think it's okay to indulge in your favorite foods every once in awhile. emoticon

    It's not easy. Maybe you can choose one specific thing to let go of. Then once you achieve that, then choose another food to let go of. It's a process that has worked for me. Who knows it may work for you also.
