Over Whelmed...Can I do it?

Oh goodness I am feeling a bit over whelmed. I have a lot of different events coming up. I am use to having control of what I eat. I measure and weigh everything. Today I have been invited to a friends house for lunch, I have not a clue what is on the menu. Tonight a dinner at church I think I will be ok for that one. It's going to be baked chicken, veggie and tater so that is not to bad. I can make that one work. Then a cook out Saturday. Next week a Relay for life dinner not sure whats on the menu, then next Saturday a dinner at the Outback which I am going to look at the menu a head of time. See I always plan may menu out and track it a day a head of time so I know just what I am doing. I need to learn how to do this, for I will have many events pop up in my life. I am going to remember my portion sizes and remember not to go with any thing that is creamy or shining looking. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I am open to any suggestions.

    emoticon your doing anew lifestyle, a healthy one. If I'm at a function, the dessert has to be out of this world incredible if i am going to bite it. Lots of time I do only bite. emoticon if it is cake, I only eat the top cause that is the only out of this world part! You can do it, drink some water and go have fun. Come back here for support for each time. emoticon

    I know you can do this....I was going to tell you what LJBKENT comment I won't repeat it, but it is something I have done many times. If I can't find what I would call healthy on a menu I order the next best thing (usually grilled chicken breast...salad (I use lemon on it) and veggies (sometimes 2 orders)...if that doesn't appeal to me I eat one half and take the other home. emoticon

    Just be aware. You are trying to arm yourself with the tools you need and ask your self is this food item something I really want to use my calories on. Have a great time emoticon

    By now you have a pretty good idea of what and how to eat. If you don't have an app to track your food, I just write down what I ate and plug in the numbers later. I know NEVER to eat anything larger than my own fist and stick with healthy options.

Try not to let it get to you before hand. Stressing about food and festivities makes them less fun. Be as prepared as you can and THINK before you do anything and you'll do fine.

    Remember advice from SparkPeople nutritionist "If you halve it, you can have it". Just eat half of something and you'll be better off when you have these events. Moderation is the key. Good luck!
