A new project - slate photo journal

Thursday, May 09, 2013

I got curious how long it takes to do a piece these days. My normal workflow when I have no deadline is to work on pieces a little here and a little there, and I've never kept track of how many hours that adds up to...

So last night I spent about 40 minutes to put a design on a slate. (I had a design ready to go, so this was speedy.)

And this morning I spent about an hour carving...

I think I could have sanded the surface of this stone first, it's kinda unstable. Flakes. I think I'll manage, though.

I used to do a lot of counted cross-stitching and used to wonder how long a project would take but never counted the minutes. Good idea and good luck with your project.
