I was pretty sure that bacon was the secret to growing old, and this proves me right. lmao. While I think some of these things like smoking aren't conducive to long life, I think we are still in the dark on what is best for our health except in generalities.

I'm off to have a 4 whole egg mushroom omelette to lower my cholesterol.

My grandmother cooked with lard, bacon, whole milk and everything in between. But for years everything she ate she grew herself or raised the animals herself till she was probably about in her 50's She grew her own veggies well into her 80's and she lived to 102. I think more than anything organic is the way to go. try to eliminate the toxins and processed food as much as possible. Because I saw what my grandparents ate and they didn't only eat salad or any other fad and both lived well past 90. The era of Fast food is what has decreased life expectancy more than anything I think.

I think the problems start when you combine that omelet with a sweet roll and sugar in your coffee.

I think the real secret is to be born to the right parents. My mom's dad lived to 101, and though my own dad only made it to 83 he would probably still be around, driving me crazy, if he'd taken some damn antibiotics and had his prostate procedure 10 years earlier. Smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish and died with clear lungs and a good liver. Stupid kidneys failed and too much Ativan given at the dialysis clinic put him to sleep

I think that might mean that I've got a good long run ahead of me.

We drove past my mom's house yesterday evening in time to see her swinging a pickaxe to dislodge some rocks in her yard. She's 87. My son and I just cracked up laughing!
