I Found My Thrill

Thursday, May 09, 2013

...on blueberry hill...

Actually my thrill was bingeing....on music.

Thanks to a recent blog by BOILHAM I went on a music buying spree recently, starting with Fats Domino and Chuck Berry and branching off from there.

New treasures for my iPod include:

Blueberry Hill...Fats Domino
Wooly Bully...Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs
Da Doo Ron Ron...Sha Na Na
Rama Lama Ding Dong...Sha Na Na
Witch Doctor...Sha Na Na
Walk Like an Egyptian...The Bangles
Mr. Sandman...The Puppini Sisters version
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy...The Puppini Sisters version
The Lion Sleeps Tonight...The Tokens
Long Tall Sally...Little Richard
At the Hop...Danny & The Juniors
Rockin' Robin...Bobby Day
Reelin' and Rockin'...John Primer version
Roll Over Beethoven...Chuck Berry
Johnny B. Goode...Chuck Berry
Choo Choo Ch'Boogie...Louis Jordan (original but the Asleep at the Wheel version is pretty good too)
Cotton Eyed Joe...Cajun Kickers version
Sea of Love...The Honeydrippers
Beyond the Sea...Kevin Spacey version (I like it better than Bobby Darin's but his is also good)
Come Candela...Arturo Sandoval & WDR Big Band (love mambo and flamenco!)
One of Them...Jace Everett (the guy who sings the True Blood theme song)
Rob Zombie's new album Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor

Most are oldies and truth to the saying Oldies but Goodies! And all make me want to move. I can't believe I went so many years while I was with the psycho ex without listening to the music that makes me happy. Not only do I want to move, I want to make it as well. First love in music is Big Band so I will be looking for sheet music when I am back home next month.

So just as soon as my iPod finishes syncing I am off for a run to enjoy my blasts from the past!

Sparking the soul! Off & running on the new challenge too. Enjoy.
Music quells the worrying voices in my head that tear me in 8 directions.

I absolutely love the Oldies but Goodies music. I need to remember to listen to that music instead of turning to my comfort foods. I think I get the same kind of high!

What a fun play list! I am so old that I saw Chuck Berry and Fats Domino in the same summer! I hope you had a great run!

    Run like the wind!

You've got to get "Sing, Sing, Sing" by Benny Goodman....try and NOT run when you hear that drum beat!

I feel old, because these lyrics were the first thing I thought I looked over and said to myself.. on blueberry hill.

One more month in France? hope you have seen everything you want to. Have a good run.
