Running, walking and weights, oh my!

I actually made it to the gym again today. That is twice this week, which is twice more than last week. I got in 3.1 miles total on the treadmill. I ran the first two miles in 22 minutes, hopped off and pedaled for 30 minutes, then got back on the treadmill and set the incline at 1.5% and did another 1.1 miles in 13 minutes. Not super fast, but respectable enough. I also did ST. I am focusing more on upper body, as I walk and run quite a bit, so my legs are pretty strong. I did do squats on the leg press machine. I have stalled at 160 pounds for weight on that machine, but since that is about what I weigh I feel pretty good about it. I can do 3 sets of 15 reps at that weight, so you would think I could increase the weight again, but the next increment is a 10# jump, so I am putting it off for a couple weeks. I don't want to strain something at this point. I have also stalled on the weight on the overhead press. I have been using 40-45 pounds for about a month now, and I can still only do about 10 reps at that weight. Of course, taking two weeks off from lifting heavier weights slowed me down. I will get where I want to go... eventually.

Of course I also took my Cooper dog for three walks, plus the walk to and from the gym. So I walked over 11 miles total today, ran 3.1 miles, and pedaled 6.8 miles. A pretty good day for mileage. Not as much as Monday, but it rained this afternoon, so Cooper's afternoon walk was pretty short. I should be able to get to the gym again on Friday. I really need to keep up the running so I am in shape for the 5k. I plan on taking the run outdoors again next week, depending on the weather. I still haven't come up with a secure (and silent) way of carrying all my keys when I am running outdoors, but hopefully something will occur to me. I did get a shoe wallet to try out, but I am hesitant to use it. If I lose my keys then I am locked out of not only my apartment, but the entire apartment building, as I live in a secured building.

I am still lacking much of an appetite. I have been under calories all but one day this week. I just don't want to eat anymore than I have been. I got on the scale today, just to see if it is having any effect, and I had lost another pound, so there is a benefit to my lack of appetite. lol

    Keep doing the great work. You may try to push yourself to eat more even if you don't have an appetite so you don't hurt yourself or your progress.

    I often use the "bank of mom" when I need to carry a single key or small amount of cash- just a small cloth pocket inside a bra cup stays quiet and secure

    Wow! Awesome fitness!! The thing I hate about women's clothing -never any pockets -I wear guy's shorts which do have an inner snug pocket. It sounds like you have nothing on you -not even water -I see some cute belts with little water bottles all around them. Only thing for you would be to wrap your keys tightly in a rubber band and thread the ring of your keys through your running shoe laces.
Hope the lack of appetite isn't pointing to something serious. That is not the way to lose weight :(

    I love the leg press. I agree upper body strength will help you with running.
