Yoga for My Birthday

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

I was going to blog here today, but given everything that's gone on in my life this week, all I really want to do is yoga.

I wrote about it on my other blog here: nextthirtydays.wordpress

I'd love to hear what you think, here or there... do you do yoga? Does it do anything for you?

I haven't really gotten into yoga. I've tried it a few times, but maybe if I signed up for a class and I went regularly I would like it more.

I love love love yoga! Both the strength and stretching. My body always feels fantastic afterward. I also love the calmness and focusing of my thoughts that occurs with the breathing....I mostly use Tara Stiles DVDs.

I love yoga, its really like the only exercise i truly enjoy. Well thats not exactly true i like to dance as well.

Anyway, I'm not deeply into the spiritual aspect of yoga, I appreciate that aspect of course, but yoga really helps me focus on my body, its strengths as well as its limitations. I always feel like I really accomplished something afterwards because my body just feels good and strong, and less achy. I feel like it calms and clears my mind a bit and just relaxes me more.

Some of it can be tough, i went to a bikram class once and i don't think I've ever sweated so much in my life! I had a friend who insisted that no one could lose weight by doing yoga, after a year of convincing here to try it, we went to this free yoga class in the park and it kicked her butt. she was amazed at how challenging it was.

Thats great that you are doing yoga! I'm heading over to read your blog, now.
