yaaayy!!! it is working!!!!!

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

That excitement is manifesting itself in a couple of ways recently. First of all, I had allowed myself to gain 5 pounds in the past several weeks. This past week I put a hard emoticon to that trend. I did that by reducing my caloric intake, increasing my water, and increasing my workout intensity and commitment. I started a BGR! (Black Girls Run!) group. Today I weighed in and I am officially 4.8 pounds down! Only 0.2 lbs up from my lowest adult weight ever! That tells me that I can do this and this is working! The old me would not have self-corrected and turned things around. My lifestyle change is working!!!

I am also super-excited that the word is spreading about my running group. I have had so many people contact me wanting more information about the group. Some show up, some don't. My first run, it was me and one other girl. On the second run, I had three different ladies show up. On my third run, I had a repeat runner and two new girls. In a matter of a week, I have coached 6 ladies on running and hopefully inspired them along the way. Each run, I had a moment prior where I ask myself, "Why am I doing this? I should just focus on me." But then I see how appreciative my girls are at the end of the run. It feels so good to see the hope in their eyes. There is good conversation during the walking interval and there are moments of questioning about best practices and I enjoy sharing what has worked for me. Tomorrow, I am slated to have my largest group yet. Whether that happens or not, I am excited about helping others. Here is yesterday's group pic

And might I just toot my own horn for a minute and say that I look really lean! I actually am not embarrassed by my thighs or gut in this pic. YAAAYYY!!!

The final exciting thing is having my blog featured. I guess people like Top 10 lists!!

Congratulations on the growing BGR group!!! I'm sure the ladies that are partnering with you feel the spunk and see the progress you've made. I know they are extremely blessed to have you as their front runner. You make a world of difference to me on my journey so I can only imagine what a blessing it is to be around you and hear you cheering them on as they run. Great job!!!

Don't get discouraged even if it's just you and one other. Hang in there.

Great job!! The best thing you can do is keep from feeling despair after falling down. Just get back on up, dust yourself off, and push again. That's what I'm doing now, too. I've fallen many times but this year I have decided not to get discouraged. Because of my change of lifestyle, I have lost 15 pounds since the beginning of this year. It's a struggle and I gain a few here-and-there but it does feel great when we turn it around and succeed! Keep up the great work!

emoticon emoticon so cool to be featured. I would like like someday too.

even better you helping others- it truly is a great feeling to help others and while helping them you help yourself too. I am just walking but I love the fact that what I can do now I couldn't have done a year ago. More to that it puts things in prospective.

Keep up the motivation in yourself and other! emoticon
