Well, 5 months later, 24 pounds gone and what have I learned?
I learned that hot days are more enjoyable with less weight...same goes for high heels.
I learned I actually enjoy workouts and get a buzz from the "burn".
I learned I don't hate salads as much as I thought.
I learned I still have food cravings. (Smashburger!)
I learned that it is hard to log foods, especially when trying to deny a binge.
I learned that I may still want to drop another 5 pounds.

Most of all, I learned that Spark People is a great site with really supportive fellow members.
Thank you to all my friends! I will post an after pic as soon as I get one!

I have learned to be patient with myself and others

Since I have lost 60 pounds, I really look and feel better. People are always asking how I did it and I tell them everyone is different.

1 .I have learned eating celery gives you that "crunchy food" satisfaction.
2 .I have learned exercise is so important to maintaining my weight loss, but so is a day of rest.
3. I have learned that being able to just slip into a size 4 makes me really happy.
4. I have learned not to drink diet soda because it activates my sweet tooth!
5. I have learned portion control is a must! (I don't track my intake) emoticon

    I love that you are so honest and open.

I have learned that it is totally not worth it to eat food that doesn't taste good. I would eat 300 calories of the most fresh, flavorful and delicious home cooked food over a bag of chips or ice cream.

    This is a great idea and I would like to add my five lessons.
-I have learned no screw up ruins my progress. I can have a totally "bad" day food wise and get right back to it the next day and usually have no ill effects. It is when I say "I give up", and keep pigging out that I blow it.
-I have learned that I am not going to beat myself up if I can not get in all the exercise I want. I do what I can do and move on. My joints hurt a lot so if I walk half way around my is a good day!
-I have learned that a bad attitude can be changed. I can be grumpy and negative if I want to, but if I find a reason to be positive and happy, my day will go a lot better.
-I have learned that it helps my progress to share with others. Comparing notes with my sister and others about weight loss keeps the motivation going.
-I have learned that I am very competitive!! If someone else is doing better than I am, it really motivates me to do better.
-And finally I have learned to be grateful for everyday that I am able to walk, breathe, do things for myself and look forward to a healthy, active and productive future. emoticon

    Thanks for taking time to express that so well. I too am very close to my goal but will probably go for another 5 pounds after I lose the two I have left to go. It is good to see someone who has actually reached their goal!

    I loved this blog and have my own 5 things I've learned
I can drink water and like it.
I can find an excuse for anything if I look hard enough
I don't have to eat everything the family eats or when
The older I get the less milk I drink (used to drink 3 gallons a week)
It's fun to find more ways to get steps in. emoticon

    I pondered whether to enter, since I have no idea what I weigh. If I have lost anything, those pounds are hiding. BUT I will not give in because I have disabilities. I have watched my water intake and calories eaten.
I am working on being like a postage stamp,...staying right where I belong, here at Spark until my destination appears. (then I will stay on to encourage others)
I tried to remember "Feeling gratitude and not expressing it, is like wrapping a gift and not giving it."
My motto for my Spark journey "Start doing today, what you plan on doing tomorrow."
I found that a "closed mouth, gathers no calories"
I found this in an old saved TOPS paper. It applies to us all. "When reaching for a sweet--you don't need momentary pleasure, as much as you need future success."

    Great blog. Thanks for sharing. I've learned that I need to keep desert alternatives (like fat free pudding, or single serve low fat treats) because a little desert is ok & when I'm craving it I'm going to get it away or binge on other stuff until I get it.

  I have learned that to drink any soda will bring back the weight. I cannot even have one. It is not just the soda, but the stuff that goes with it.

    So true. I learned that tracking the food makes all the difference in the world. Also, 10 minutes of exercise soon evolves into 30 or more. SparkPeople is the best thing that's happened to me.

    I've learned strong is better than skinny
I've learned strong also is attractive
I've learned this is a life long journey
I've learned I can enjoy food but not be obsessed with it
I've learned lots of water is a great thing
I've learned taking the first step into the gym or workout is the hardest part
