Refiguring Plans and Rewards.... Yet Again

Happy Wednesday Spark World!

I made it to the gym again today. Felt good - but I really had to drag myself! I got home and made my poached egg and green smoothie, hopped in the shower, then laid down for a 40 minute nap before running off to work.

After some thought about the subject of yesterday's blog (lack of drive) I think I have come up with a plan. I always manage to come up with these plans but they do not stick. I need some goals and some rewards to keep me going. I need to stick with the basics. I don't know if I will be dedicated enough to continue tracking calorie, as I have not been that dedicated lately.

So I think for a couple of months I will try eating well 25 days a month and workout at least 4x a week. Eating well as in feeling like I made good choices for the day. No tracking calories, just going by what I have learned over the years. I may track this on my running calendar with highlighters or something. I will reward myself for each month. If I reach BOTH goals I will get a reward. Whether it is a new purse shell (I have a Miche purse - they are pretty dang cool!), or a new outfit, or new workout clothes/equipment. I will set the goal before the beginning of the month, each month, this way I know that my reward is something that I will still be able to get (not out of season or something).

I really hope that being a little bit more diligent with my eating, but not to the point of tracking calories, because I just don't anymore. Some days I will, sure, but that will not be what I rely on. I think during the next couple of months I will probably learn a lot. Hopefully I maintain my weight (or lose!!) and hopefully I find that I've lost some inches. If this works I will continue that way, if it doesn't work, I will revise! For this month I am on track with my workouts and I have had 2 splurge days.

I am going to get my next 2 workouts done the next 2 mornings then we are off to the ocean for the weekend. I hope to still eat well while we are there - not binge on fried food or chocolate. No french toast for breakfast followed by chicken strips and french fries followed by pizza and ice cream. I will remain conscious and I will allow myself to enjoy some foods I haven't recently, but I will not allow myself to go crazy for 2-1/2 days!

So, here we go - on a new plan again.

    It definitely sounds like you are on the right track. I wish I had a instant cure for the "make-a-plan-but-don't-follow-it" ailment... I am definitely guilty so much of the time. It is like I am lacking a "fire in the belly" or fierce determination that I really need and I am not sure how to get it. Sometimes at the end of the day I just decide not to do my quick ST workout routine even though I know I need to in order to meet my goals. So frustrated with myself sometimes! However, I know we can both do this! We can all get past our previously missed goals and be victorious! I think your plan is great because it is very do-able! I am coming to the conclusion that being starving hungry all the time is counter-productive. The right good food and a few splurges is turning out to be a key for me.

    I love it when a plan comes together. I also like the idea of less tracking and more intuitive eating. I want to get to that place, too. The tracker is really helpful but sometimes Sparking takes up more time than what it should in my day. I've already cut back a bit on my SP time, but I'd like to see some more progress on that front. Good luck with the new plan and enjoy your time at the ocean!

    Very good! I think you'll be very happy and proud if you don't go all out for 2.5 days. A treat here and there is great and does relatively little damage!
