CT Surgery

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Yesterday I had my bilateral carpal tunnel surgery. Both wrists at the same time. You would not believe how much *guff* I took from people about getting them both done at the same time. Even yesterday at the hospital, everybody from admin to the phlebotomist to the nurses "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME?" To me it just made sense. I wanted to get it over with and not take off so much time from work or CrossFit. I have an amazing awesome husband who is a nurse by trade who is able to take off from work care for me. I am able to do basic things for myself like feed myself and go to the bathroom (I heard that one a lot: "Your husband is going to have to help you when you go to the bathroom"--- NOT! I am managing just fine lol). But he is here meeting my every need. :) I truly feel loved.

It's only my 2nd surgery in my life, but I think it is just too cool how the anesthesiologist comes in and tells you what he is putting in your IV is going to make you go to sleep and the next thing you know the nurse is there telling you the surgery is over and you are in recovery. So wild!

I'm not really in a whole lot of pain, just when I try to do too much... in which case my hubby is there fussing at me, lol. The hydrocodone is helping a lot. I am so tempted to unwrap my bandages and look at my wounds... but I really need to wait until Friday. She told me if I am not nice to them these first 3 days, then I am looking at a long road to recovery and I do not want that.

OK! I am off to check up on y'all! I have 2 weeks off from work so I'll be around for awhile.

LOL! Fingers are working great... It's the lifting of anything heavier than a plastic fork that is hurting. Typing isn't bothering it at all. :)
