You don't have to wait till you're "skinny" to have an Adventure!

Hi! I've been struggling with my weight all my adult life. I got down to 167 for my wedding in 1993 and discovered on our honeymoon to Mexico that I love snorkeling! Wanted to try parasailing, but it wasn't in the budget for that trip.
Fast forward to 1995 and I'm back up to 212 pounds! But hubby and I go to the U.S. Virgin Islands for one last trip before having babies. Although it was very embarrassing asking the dive operator and parasailing guys if there was a weight limit, I felt they should be aware of my size before I signed up. We scuba dove to 40 feet deep, and parasailed to who knows how high! How exhilarating!
In 2007 we finally scraped up enough cash to take our two boys to Florida for a family vacation. At 245 pounds, I wasn't sure I'd fit in the roller coasters at Busch Gardens, but I did. What a Blast! And we got to Parasail again, this time I went tandem with our 7 year old, and Jim went tandem with the 11 year old. I can't believe my kids were brave enough to try it! I was so proud to Not be a Mom who sits on the sidelines, but gets out there and has fun! We snorkeled and went sand dollar diving, although I couldn't get down to the bottom to see the sand dollars, because fat floats!
In 2011 we took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. On the agenda for this trip was a zipline adventure and a white water rafting trip! At 271 pounds, I came in just under the 275 pound limit for the zipline. I was nervous that I'd coming speeding into the landing pad and knock the zipline guide guy down, but no problems at all! What a rush! The pictures of me in that harness are sure not pretty, but I Did It! ! The whitewater rafting was fun too! No weight limit for that trip!
Now, of course all these things would have been even more fun without the worry about being too big for something, and the embarrassment of having to ask about weight limits. But my point here is that you don't have to wait till you lose the weight to live your life and have fun! You need to know your body and your personal limitations, but get out there and Live!
Please share with me your stories of adventures! I love traveling and trying new things! Maybe you all can suggest some new family adventures for our next family vacation! It'll be hard to top the zipline though!!
