So maybe Cinco de Mayo wasn't the best day to start my diet...regardless, I made it through! A beautiful platter of nachos and a sixpack of Dos Equis were eyeballing me all night, but I stuck to a serving of tortilla chips, a little bit of guacamole, and one sangria so I could feel like I'm participating.
Otherwise, so far so good! Monday i tried a recipe from this service called Mealime, which gives you a preset shopping and recipe list for your week's dinners for 1/2 people. It's not advertising itself as a diet, but the recipes (so far) have all been whole foods, and easy subsitutions to make it healthy.
Last night I ended up 1 1/2 hours late from work, but the BF stepped up by ordering from our local healthy place, Nature Grill. Had grilled chicken kebabs with brown rice and pineapple salsa - delicious! And there's even enough leftovers for lunch, since takeout portions are so large.
I find it a little hard to be truly accurate when calculating my calories -- something like the above, i can guess the ingredients but there's no way of me knowing 100% that the calorie count of, say, their pineapple salsa is the same as the ones listed. Which tells you that you should make your own food at home and then you'll know exactly, but that's not always possible. I figure as long as I'm within 100 calories of my goal and I'm doing my exercise (COUGH), I should be OK.
