Every month my work hosts a "buzz night" which is a get-together of all of the employees from all of the stores in our area. This can be anywhere from 50-80 people depending on who is on leave, sick, working that day, etc. It's part awards ceremony, part catch up and part boozey party. For myself and nearly anyone in my company who is trying to lose weight these are some of the hardest nights to get through. All you can drink and all you can eat after a busy day is hard to resist. But today I prepared for this. I knew it was coming so I planned my day, ate incredibly well and when the wine started to flow, instead I asked for a diet coke. Now I know diet coke isn't very good for me either but it's pretty much 0 calories. And I only had one glass.
When dinner started I allowed myself a small glass of wine and instead of hitting the buffet like I had been starved for the last week, I took small portions of each item I liked the look up, loaded up more on veggies and meat than the rice and tried to keep a strong focus on STOPPING when I had had enough.
So my dinner was eaten and done and my friends around me kept eating. Tempting as it was, when they suggested I eat more I declined politely and now I feel fantastic for having been able to GO OUT in a social setting without falling off the wagon.
Just another victory which proves to me that I can do anything I put my mind to! I cannot wait for the Saturday weigh-in coming up in three days time!!!
