Gardening Tidbits

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

I have inherited gardens around my wee house. They are little flower gardens with many perennials, so I am fortunate that most of the "bones" of these gardens are already established by the previous owner of this house. emoticon

I get to add a few tidbits for different colour.

Last Saturday I bought some white and some purple Alyssum. They are the tiny flowers that you often see at the edge of flowerbeds. I used the white under a pussywillow tree because they will be in the shade. The purple puffs are distributed near some white / purple pansies and everything looks OK together.

I stuffed some African Daisies into a plastic urn at the top of our driveway. Yellow, orange and a red one will have to learn to get along with a tad of English ivy and some wispy greenery to trail outside the container. Fine, another project complete.

This evening I bought just a little bit more bits for the backyard.... I adopted some Black eyed Susans for a bare corner of a garden. I will admire them as I sit on a stone patio later in the season. emoticon

I brought home a plant that is perennial- sort of a bush, but not really. Do you know what a Crocosmia is? This will be bright red stalks of flowers with a really green leaves. The first time I ever saw one out here, I knew I had to own one some day.

And today is the day!

This is the year that I have bought some plants that I really like, instead of buying annuals that are easy to obtain.

This lovely weather got me "growing" early!! emoticon
