I' ve had a setback

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

So I broke my leg Sunday night in pursuit of a new exciting fitness challenge "Roller Derby" but i didnt even get out on the track before I rolled my ankle- and found out yesterday I actually broke my Femur. Now I have a solid cast up to my knee and it still hurts like a "you know what"
I am taking a couple more days off my desk job so the swelling can go down. But I almost burst into tears when the DR said I wont do k,kickboxing or any other fitness class for three months!
I am at 200 and I had a lofty goal of being 185 by the time I pick up my son in Norfolk VA and drive him back to Cali after he has been in the Navy for the past 4 years.
I'm sad and scared and embarrassed and mad and frustrated and in pain too boot.
My mom and my two little girls are my helper nurse maids and my hubby is doing everything kid related from getting them ready and to the bus to Softball games. I have the support and just have to pull myself together...PS day time tv without cable is horrible and depressing!

emoticon emoticon with the help from your friends. that is a very tough thing to face. How about marking off the calendar so you can see the end?

Oh my goodness, that is a nasty break. Yes it is true you might not be able to kickbox etc but if you eat "clean" and do exercises for arms, back, obliques etc, you will do fine and I bet you loose some weight from lugging that cast around.

Remember to track everything you eat and drink the water.

Hope you feel better soon.

emoticon I'm so sorry! I hope you use all those negative feelings to motivate you forward. YOU can win at this journey even with no exercise for 3 months. My very over weight sister has been in a cast for 3 weeks and has lost 10 pounds. It can be done! Think about all the good folks do who "only" get to use chair exercise. You can do this!!! I have faith in you!!

Thank You Everyone!!! I will use some dumbells and figure out some other seated exercises. I will just do my best to not loose hope and when I start to I will force myself to blog about it...because this encouragement really helps! HUGS to all of you!

I was just at the message boards and someone else was mentioning that they are also unable to exercise. Another member mentioned that weight loss starts in the kitchen, so if you keep track of what you eat and maybe use dumbbells to keep muscle mass in your arms it will help? I hope you recover quickly.

So sorry to hear about your leg! Can you do upper body work, like bicep curls while seated, or something like that? have hubby pick up some books or videos from library maybe to pass the time? Best of luck to you!
