WOD Catch up

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

I was not feeling very motivated when it comes to CrossFit the last few weeks, but a few awesome WODs have turned it all around.

Last Thursday's WOD:

10,9,8,7...3,2,1 reps for time:
Burpee Box Jump Over (20 inches)

6 squats after each set of BBJOs.

I don't remember my time on this one. It was pretty brutal though! I conveniently missed reading the word "burpee" and thought we were just doing box jump overs until I got to the gym and saw the earlier class do it. Oops. That made it a lot harder than I was anticipating.

My shoulder's were really sore after all those burpees, so I almost skipped Friday's WOD, but I'm glad I didn't, because I loved it!:

For time:

30 Power Snatch
30 Clean and Jerk

3 Rounds:

400 M Run
21 KB Swings
12 Pull-ups

If you couldn't tell, that is THREE benchmark WODs in a row! Isabel, Grace, and Helen. I went really light on everything (48# for Isabel/Grace and 26# instead of 35 for the KB swings). I really focused on form on my cleans (I've been working on some errors lately). Even going light, it was still a great workout. It ended up taking me about 21 minutes.

Saturday I went to Oly. We just did snatch and clean and jerks in preparation for next week, when we are having a faux Oly meet during class since one of our regulars is moving across the country. We'll get three attempts at each lift, so the goal was to figure out what weights we should use next week for our first attempts.

We finally made it to Spring here in Minnesota on Sunday. We've had a few days here and there, interspersed with snow. Seriously. It snowed last Thursday. In MAY. I went on a short bike ride just to enjoy the weather. I've biked to and from class the past two days as well, which has been fantastic (although my butt is NOT used to the bike seat after all these months).

Yesterday was one of the best days at CF lately. I went to the 9am class and it was gorgeous out. Perfect for a running-heavy WOD:

30 minute AMRAP:
800m run
500 m row
25 KB swings (Rx @ 35#)

I got 3 rounds + 400M run. I wasn't really excited when I saw the WOD, but it was just what I needed. I was also pretty proud to be one of two people in my class that did it Rx and I wasn't even last!

Today's a rest day and due to my class schedule, tomorrow probably will be too. I'm anxious for Thursday already!

Wouldn't miss this blog for anything. 3 WOD recaps? Yes please.

If I saw burpee box jumps I might just turn around and walk right back out. LOL

Those long workouts can really be great. That's how I felt about Big Helen last Saturday. It was horrible but I felt really good after!

I'm going tonight... we are doing power cleans and Tabata. Strength plus Tabata is my absolute favorite WOD so there is no way I am missing it. I really cannot lie, I don't especially want to go, but I am going and I am going to think of NOTHING except the workout. And that's how that's going to be.
