My Tuesday Treat

Almost every Tuesday, my hubby and I go to a friend's house for dinner. She loves to experiment, and she belongs to a garden co-op - so we never know what might show up on the menu. We've eaten Ethiopian, Indian, Mediterranean, French, down home Southern. Vegetables can range from basic potatoes to fiddleheads, from squash to ramps.

On the one hand, it's lovely to have a great meal prepared by someone else. On the other hand, the food is rarely low-fat or low-cal. And it's always a struggle between how much I WANT to eat, and how much I should eat.

My plan is to go light on calories for breakfast and lunch (lots of fruit and veg!). That way if I eat a little too much at dinner because it's SOOOO good, I'll still come out ahead.

I have to plan ahead, but I think it will all work out.

Took my little walk at lunch under lowering clouds. I kind of hope it rains - I put out my potted plants on the patio, and I'm lazily hoping God waters them rather than having to haul the watering can from around the side of the house. What depths I sink to!

    How about eating a salad before you leave home? That way, you will be eating HER food just for the flavors, not to fill your tummy. Just a suggestion as an experiment. IF you are still hungry when you get home, you can have more salad and a huge glass of water.
