NRFLfW, Day 1.. Workout 1A

so, today, i did my first New Rules for Lifting for Women workout. it went by really fast.. maybe 20 mins total. today's workout included weighted squats, pushups (i did the 60 degree ones), bent over rows, weighted step ups and jack knives on a swiss ball.

one thing i learned... i'm not using enough weight. i had to increase weights inbetween sets, and i think i will need to increase it again for next time too. because i've never 'lifted heavy' before, i wasn't sure where to start. the whole thing was too easy, which tells me i need to use more weight. we'll see if i'm sore tomorrow or not. the jack knives were tricky and awkward, but i did them. next time, i need to be more controlled, slower, and have better form.

i'm starting to wonder how far i can get with this program from home, with my limited equipment. thinking about whether i should hire a personal trainer for 2 strength workouts a week (done at their house, with their equipment). i have no idea how much that will cost, but it's something to keep in mind over the next few weeks.

i do workout 1B on thursday, which has different exercises, so i'll see how i make out with that. very much hoping for a long bike ride tonight.
