I saw this over the weekend. This is a very interesting PBS video about High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), the science behind it, and the physiological results that arise from just a few very short sessions a week:

    Turbo Jam is based on HIIT. I guess I now know the "why" of how it works so well! emoticon emoticon

    I too saw that special. It was interesting, but the whole time my head was just going, "Isn't that Tabata training?" I did a little searching afterwards and found that it is pretty much exactly the same thing. Tabata is HIIT, just much shorter intervals.     It is a very cool video. Thanks for sharing. A lot of what we read in the four hour body right!?!
This is the kind of stuff that makes me feel like I am working out "smarter" now since I am not getting the kind of numbers I use to total a week... Still hard to feel proud of low numbers especially when they are even low in comparison to what I was pregnant. It all makes since but for those of us who really like working out sometime it is hard to just stick to the minimal effective dose isn't it!?!

Oh! Yea he has another good video on fasting and life expectancy too! Have you seen that one with the 101 year old mad completing the London marathon?

    It works! I have been doing high-intensity-interval
training for five years. It had a major effect on
both losing and maintaining my weight.

It takes only a little time, but a lot of effort. I only
workout for 35 minutes three times a week. Only
15 minutes of that time are high intensity, broken
into the intervals with walking between.

My fitness levels are significantly improved.
All I can say is, it works! emoticon
