But this is because I didn't put the 4 pound weight gain I had last week.
It's amazing how easily the first 50 pounds came off. Now I'm trying to reach my new normal without tracking. It's much harder to do without tracking every little bite, but I want to manage my life not tied down to the computer.
I find that weight loss is easier when the weather is warmer. You're not freezing your butt off (I had way too nice of a winter the first year, this year, not so much), produce is abundant and fairly priced, the sun shines longer so you have more daylight hours to get your exercise for the day.
I actually managed to lose 3 pounds this week. I'm not as hungry, I'm over my eat everything because it's not being written down phase and I'm ready to get it going again. I bought a lot of strawberries yesterday to start my week out strong. I'm making more things from scratch and learning new recipes. I'm still not denying eating out once a week because that's what mom and I do so we're not starving from missing lunch in the middle of the day, but I have the knowledge to make the better decision wherever I go.
With the great weather the last few weeks (intermittently) I've been pushing myself to go farther in the park. When I first started in January of last year, I could barely go around the long way once (3/4 of a mile) without wanting to go in. I slowly made my way up, starting with two times around, and the last couple of weeks I've been doing a more or less 5k every day. A week and a half ago I started pushing this and did 3.26 miles in 1 hour 6 minutes. Today I managed 3.35 miles in 58 minutes! Perhaps I'll be jogging it and doing that in 30 minutes one day! It starts with stamina and ends with speed.
You may have also noticed I haven't taken my monthly picture. I have been putting it off because I know my body hasn't changed enough to take another picture. My pictures have been stagnating in the 170-180 range and I didn't think I really needed another picture in that weight range. When I get back near the weight in the lat picture, I'll take another one. Even my measurements went up this last month, so I know it's just not worth it to me right now.
My plants are starting to push through the soil. I think my peas are the first ones to show and I hope the last cold spell didn't kill off any of the seeds I planted. I'm looking forward to garden fresh veggies, those are the best. Nothing beats a warm tomato right off the vine! I'm looking forward to fresh corn this year too as I'm trying out a new hybrid that allows me to grow a few stalks per container. I have purple beans too! I like having the things that are unusual in my garden, it makes my plate more interesting to eat when there are things that we're not used to the rest of the year.
I hope that you're having a great week and that your tracker is moving in the direction you want it to go. Make sure to have one healthy meal in place of something that might not be so great and try to go farther than you have before. Every step counts!
Today's holidays: Tchaikovsky's Birthday, Johannes Brahms Birthday, National Teacher Appreciation Day (although this really started yesterday and goes all week), World Asthma Day (my son has this and I hate that someone else's choices started it) and Roast Leg of Lamb Day (perhaps a Gyro is in order for lunch?).
